UAE-based Edge Defense has acquired Trust International Group to diversify its portfolio and expand its local manufacturing capabilities. The two organizations will now collaborate on manufacturing expertise and methods to increase Edge’s sovereign capabilities and extend its supply chain beyond the current limit. Also, Edge is set on broadening its talent base and capabilities for further international reach. Edge seeks to consolidate its position as the UAE’s dominant defence conglomerate, providing advanced technology for weapons systems, electronic warfare and cyber protection.
Founded in 2004, Trust International Group specializes in providing solutions to the country’s armed forces and security establishments. Trust will join Edge within its trading and mission support cluster. The two companies are expected to combine strengths, resources and networks to create a more dynamic force in the industry that delivers excellent value to customers and stakeholders.
Edge recently acquired a majority stake in Abu Dhabi-based Gradeone, specializing in manufacturing non-lethal pyrotechnics, ammunition, defence-related components, packing solutions and defence trading. The company also purchased a majority stake in Estonia’s Milrem Robotics to develop capabilities in robotics and autonomous systems.
As a military supplier, Trust helps with capability needs assessments, acquisition support, requirement identification and provides maintenance, repair and overhaul services. It also specializes in logistics and supply chain services for land, aerial, maritime and unmanned systems.
Manufacturing in the UAE is gradually becoming a significant contributor to the country’s economy, thanks to Operation 300 billion, a strategy that seeks to increase the sector’s contribution to the country’s gross domestic product. The UAE’s industrial sector is expected to contribute Dh300 billion ($81.68 billion) to Dubai’s economy by 2031, up from the current Dh133 billion.
